What We Are Doing
Peacebuilding Starts at Home is both a community and a movement. It is, first, a community of people who have come together out a shared desire to rebuild our country around a shared understanding of what’s wrong, vision of an alternative we can build together, and a strategy for turning those dreams into reality. In short, we are a movement for sweeping social change that will–perhaps for the first time in American history–start in the mainstream of American society.
We invite you to join us in building that community and movement in three ways.

Ten Get Ten
This is our most visible and audacious project.
We plan to find at least one million Americans who are committed to Peacebuilding Starts at Home by the end of the decade.

And why we need you.
Incubate and Spread
With our partner organizations, we will be starting Peacebuilding Starts at Home projects on issues that matter to Americans that are anchored in their communities which we have learned to call locally based peacebuilding from our work around the world.
Most of these projects will be started by community members. We will help them develop their own skills, find needed resources, and then spread their success stories elsewhere until we have hundreds of thriving peacebuilding starts at home initiatives by the end of the decade.
Find Your On Ramp
There are litterally dozens of ways that you can “shift the needle” in our country.
But if we have learned anything over the years, it is that average citizens often have a hard time figure out what they can do and seeing how it can make a difference.
So, we would be delighted to help you find your on ramp into the Peacebuilding Starts at Home community and movement.
And We Aren’t Done
Watch Us Grow
Everything we do is based on the assumption that average people like you can make a difference.
At least if they realize that change will come step by step.
So, we will use this pace to keep updating you on those steps and what you have accomplished until most Americans solve most of their problems most of the time cooperatively and together.

Therefore, this page will keep changing. We will be adding projects and making progress in our Ten Get Ten campaign and more.
