Who We Are

What We Do

We are permanently under construction until the paradigm shift we are building is complete.

And that is not going to happen soon.

So, here is a snapshot look at who we are and what we do as of November 2025. We will be updating this material frequently in the next few months.

So keep coming back.

Who We Are

The Alliance for Peacebuilding decided to start Peacebuilding Starts at Home in 2024 once we realized that the United States needed its own version of the kinds of projects its more than 250 member organizations had run in 181 other countries around the world.

.

We had been thinking about doing something here at home for some time. It took us a while to realize that neither our member organizations could not help most Americans cooperatively solve most of their problems most of the time on their own.

So, we decided to do what we do best. Create and help lead a broad coalition. In this case not just of peacebuilders but of individuals and organizations who want to make progressin dealing with all of the issues that leave our country divided and polarized.

We are finalizing our first set of organizational partners and will publish that list before the end of 2025.

What We Do

Together, we will do the following to help:

      • At least 1 million Americans think of themselves as peacebuilders by the end of the decade
      • Some of those interested Americans find their personal “on ramps” so that they can be an active part of Peacebuilding Starts at Home
      • Begin changing American cultural norms not just on the political issues that divide us but on how we deal with each other as human beings
      • Incubate projects in communities around the country
      • Engage in dialogues with policy makers at all levels of government as well as with leaders in the private sector
